D-Link Forums. Please login or register. Hello all, I'm eliciting assistance on these forums because Dlink Tech Support's only sent me canned responses and manual excerpt to my issue. Details on my issue and network setup below.
All results are time outs but I see the session listed under Internet Sessions. DynDNS's Open Port tool returns timed out when checking port 80 with all the various permutations above. Could someone shed some light on this? Am I doing something wrong or overlooking something? Thank you. Well that proves that the and are the same at heart.
I came looking here to see if I could dig up any information on my doing the same stuff. I also bought a Zyxel once Buy. Com told me they would take back my The Zyxel has the same problem This is very unfortunate, as it has ruined 2 days so far. Unless Zyxel and D-Link are just the same chips in different packaging, I think that I would have to say that maybe all gigabit N devices were simply rushed to the market the moment you could load fetch googles main page with the laptop.
This is really sad, My D Link G router several years ago had a range twice that of all these new N routers, and as soon as you are at least 4 feet away from the router, the speed was faster. I really feel sorry for you especially with the "premium" I think there is light at the end of the tunnel, as some people claim they can use the port forwarding and DMZ.
Maybe just the hardware revisions we ended up with are simply physically incapable. N technology is too new It baffles me why simple features like port forwarding arent even tested before shipping out a batch of manufactured product. Virtual Server and Portforwarding are working fine - at least with don't have the You may update firmware first to the latest version 1.

Virtual servers : When you build up a server in the local network and want to share it on the Internet, Virtual Server can realize the service and provide it to the Internet users. At the same time virtual server can keep the local network safe as other services are still invisible from the Internet. Different service uses different service port.
Please verify the service port number before the configuration. For example, the personal website has been built in my home PC I hope that my friends in the Internet can visit my website in some way.
Access the web interface of Archer C9. The external port, internal port and protocol will be automatically filled with contents. It is recommended to keep the default settings of Internal Port and Protocol, if you are not clear about which port and protocol to use. If the service you want to use is not in the Service Type, you can enter the corresponding parameters manually.
You should verify the port number that the service need. You can add multiple virtual server rules if you want to provide several services in a router. Please note that the External Port should not be overlapped. Note : Your configurations will not take effect if NAT function is disabled. Make sure the server is accessible from internal network.

The will not under any circumstances accept Virtual Server or Port Forwarding setup! I'm simply trying to route http- and ftp-requests to my internal Synology Diskstation on ports 80 and This worked fine with thebut nothing I do reboot, turn off power, upgrade to firmware 1. Everything works fine on my LAN, and I can ping the router from the internet side, but no http or ftp traffic in through the router works. I've tried upgrading the firmware to 1.
And suddenly the guest network setup was gone from the menus! Is this by design? NA citizens are not allowed to set up separate guest networks? Seems like the only setting the will accept is the password setting. Is there anyone out there who've successfully managed to get this router to work with virtual server or port forwarding setup? If so, please please share any piece of information on how you did it!
Firmware version, configuration settings, cabling, etc. I consider myself fairly competent with computers and network gear, having worked as an IT consultant for over 20 years. But this box gives me serious headache! On paper it has everything I need. Virtual server setup, guest network and shareport. But half of it doesn't work!
Seriously hope D-link ships some firmware that will make this thing work as specified As you are already on NA firmware, try the latest 1. Don't use a saved settings file from an older version. Use the Internet Explorer to configure the router. My A2 EU version works fine here with 1. T Level 1 Member Posts: 3. Lizzi, thank you. Will try your suggestions. Do you know if the 1. Yes, 1. The static IP is out of the range of the dhcp selections though I have tried a dhcp reservation and that didn't help. I've also tried just using the Port Forwarding to no avail. When I connect the PC directly to the Internet remove the router everything is fine and dandy so it has to be an issue with the router not the pc.
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL? What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router? What ISP Modem brand and model do you have? If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
Turn off QoS options. Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address. Does the Cisco have a DMZ by chance? Do you get any phone service thru the ISP modem?
If not, I recommend getting into a Motorola SB cable modem. These are great modems and this would all you would really need. Reserving IP addresses on routers is not a flaw of any router. Yes they do work automatically however when using options and rules, it's always been known to set up reserved IP addresses on routers for devices, so that each devices has it's own IP address that never changes and also any options or rules you set up on the router will not break if the devices IP address happens to change while having a DHCP assigned address.
Reserving IP addresses is part of the routers job and is preferred to use it this way specially when you start connecting a lot of devices. This PC does not provide any network service.
This is the server PC that provides network services to other clients on the Internet. Port forwarding will be applied to this PC. To set up Port Forwarding :. The FTP server is now running using the following settings: Host: Source Target : Rules that only the IP address can be forwarded for the match port.
To check if port forwarding has successfully been configured for an HTTP server:. This feature is useful for hosting onlineservices such as FTP, web, or game servers. Step 1. Open a web browser and type the IPaddress of the gaming router in the address bar default is Step 3.
Step 6. Step 7. When you use the Virtual ServerPort Forwardingor Remote Administration features to open specific ports to traffic from the Internet, you could be increasing the exposure of your LAN to cyberattacks from the Internet. In these cases, you can use Inbound Filters to limit that exposure by specifying the IP addresses of internet hosts that you trust to access your LAN through the ports that you have opened.
You might, for example, only allow access to a game server on your home LAN from the computers of friends whom you have invited to play the games on that server. Inbound Filters can be used for limiting access to a server on your network to a system or group of systems.
If you add an IP address to a filter, the change is effected in all of the places where the filter is used. For a single IP address, enter the same address in both the Start and End boxes.
Up to eight ranges can be entered. The Enable checkbox allows you to turn on or off specific entries in the list of ranges. Save Saves the new or edited Inbound Filter Rule in the following list. When finished updating the Inbound Filter Rules List, you must still click the Save Settings button at the top of the page to make the changes effective and permanent.
